Well respected for her bold political and autobiographically inspired work, Agnès Varda began making films in the 1950s with La Pointe Courte – often considered the first film of the French New Wave movement. Using portable equipment and often requiring little or no preparation time, the New Wave way of filmmaking presented a documentary style.

The “Gleaning Truths” season presents eight of Agnes Varda’s best-known films with brand new digital restorations.

The soundtrack to accompany the trailer was commissioned by Curzon Cinema chain and was composed and performed by Daniel Blumberg  with violinist Billy Steiger and double bassist Tom Wheatley.
